Terminology Assistance

I know there has to be a site on the 'net that will answer all my questions about terminology, but I haven't found it yet.  What's "wavy", for instance?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Basing my answer on the area in which you live, "WAVEY" refers to an intersection commonly used for south-bound departures out of New York.  It's mostly used for aircraft going to florida out of NY.  WHITE intersection is also used as the initial fix on a lot on those routes as well.

WAVEY intersection is located at the intersection of the JFK 156 radial (and 29 miles), and HTO 243 radial (and 64 miles).

You can see all the departure waypoints used out of JFK looking at this chart .....

>> WAVEY is also used primarily for heavies going "north" eastbound to the NATs. <<

Out of JFK/EWR ? The Caribbean tracks yes, but not the north atlantic. Even routes fairly south, like over SLATN, would file via SHIPP. I don't think I've ever seen a route to a NAT track via WAVEY ? GREKI, MERIT, BETTE, HAPIE are the standard ones.

Beat me to it. I was about to modify/edit my post. I was having some doubts after I posted that. I thought I mixed it up, which it looks like I did.

Just looking through the Flight Aware website, it looks like they might only use WAVEY for flights filed via J174 southbound out of JFK. The flights on the Caribbean tracks, A300, A554 and G432, were filed via SHIPP.

WAVEY EMJAY J174 ORF/SWL/DIW ....

SHIPP LINND RETTA TARGA G432 ....

SHIPP LINND DIDLE WAYDE A300 ....

SHIPP LINND BETNY KUPEC A554 ....
