Can we work on trying to get these laws repealed?
« on: August 19, 2019, 01:01:22 AM »
Hi Dave,

It is apparently illegal in Germany.

I am working on a way to get live streams cleared throughout all European countries that currently appear to not allow them.  No ETA.

"Telecomunicationlaw BGBI I Nr.39 S.1.120 §86 vom 31.07.96 prohibition of listening, obligation of secrecy operator of receiving equipment. It's not allowed to listen to messages not destined for the radio station. Relaying of content to other persons of such messages and the fact of their reception, also when the reception is unintended, is not allowed."

What's going on with the U.K.? Can anyone cite the law because I can't find it.

For the UK, I want to say that the British Telephony Act of 1949 is still the law of the land. Parts of it was repealed in the 2000s, but the communications portion of it, especially in relation to ATC, was updated. Still illegal there, and needs to be repealed. Basically the law says that it is illegal to intercept and rebroadcast any communications in which you are not the destination. So ATC is between pilot and controller, and while it is legal to listen to it for personal use, it is illegal to rebroadcast it (read: provide a feed for everyone else (third parties) to listen).

Start with that Act there, and follow the history trail forward, and you'll find the right law.
