Title: Sudbury, ON
Post by: spallanzani on October 27, 2008, 02:43:13 PM
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone was living close enough to Sudbury (CYSB) to establish a feed. I am a flight service specialist there and of course, would like to hear myself and give the opportunity to friends & family to listen to it..

I am not close enough to the airport to do it myself.  :|

Thanks, regards.

How about taking a ride to the airport and making a sales pitch to the FBO on-field?  Not meaning to speak for the  site owner but from what I have seen LiveATC offers free advertising in exchange for an FBO providing a feed.  That, combined with a "hey, think of how your student pilots would benefit from the 30-day feed archive" could be your pitch.

All they need is a scanner, a computer, and an always-on Internet account.  Typically FBOs will have the computer and Internet account already established, so it is just a matter of getting a scanner, connecting it to the computer, and configuring the free software utility that converts the audio to a digital stream for transmission up to the LiveATC server.

Then we can all hear your radio skills.  :-)

Excellent idea. Thanks for your reply.

If anyone is close to YSB, just let me know if you're interested anyway.. I have a scanner if needed.

How did this go?  I'd be interested in listening in to a feed out there.
