This should be some good listening. Supposedly gale-force winds out of the northeast and east. The coast is supposed to get walloped, I don't know how much the force of the storm will diminish inland. I also don't know where to find aviation weather forecasts (METARs?). If anyone can grab them and post them, it would be much appreciated.

For US-based Terminal Area Forecasts (TAFs) you can go here:

http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/tafs/

KMSY's METAR (current conditions) for this morning reads:

KMSY 161453Z 05014G22KT 1 3/4SM RA BR OVC008 09/08 A3000 RMK AO2 TWR VIS 2 CIG 006V013

which translates to:

On 1/16 at 1453z, winds were out of the northeast (true north) at 14 knots gusting to 22 kts, 1 3/4 statute miles visibility in moderate rain, mist, overcast at 800 feet (AGL), temperature 9c, dewpoint 8c, altimeter 3000.  REMARKS:  Tower visibility at 2 miles, ceiling variable between 600 and 1300 AGL.

KMSY TAF taken today, Wednesday 1/16, reads:

KMSY 161130Z 161212 07015G25KT 4SM -RA BR BKN010 OVC020
      TEMPO 1620 05020G30KT 2SM RA BR OVC010
     FM2200 03012G22KT P6SM -RA OVC010
     FM0300 36010G18KT P6SM OVC015
     FM0800 34010KT P6SM OVC015

Entry in red seems to be the most troublesome over the next 24 hours there.   This translates into, "temporarily between 1600z and 2000z, winds out of the northeast (true north) at 20 kts gusting 30 knots, 2 statute miles visibility in moderate rain, mist, overcast 1,000 feet AGL."

Overall not too challenging for the IFR pilots, but no VFR today!  :0)

Rained all day today! I really really wish the MSY feed would be up and running, but the family and I have been really busy. There will never be a lack of interesting weather down here, for sure.
