Hello everyone,
I am in the process of setting up a KLCH (Lake Charles, La.) feed. I have installed a discone antenna on the eve of my house that is about 22 feet from the ground. I used RG8 coaxial cable and I am using a Uniden Bearcat BC350A Scanner. For some reason, I can tune the scanner to scan the marine frequencies and I can pick up boats at the port of Lake Charles just fine with no static. I am about 4 miles from the airport as the crow flies and I am under one of the VOR approach paths, so I get traffic overhead all day. The static is bad on the air bands so that I can barely make out what the pilots are saying. But the other freq. are clear. Any ideas?? I do not have any kind of ground on anything, maybe that is the problem but hopefully someone reading this can tell me what might be the problem and can tell me how to ground everything so I wont get struck by lightning!! Thanks in advance everyone. Steven.
