I just chose ATC job with the United States Navy:any tips?
« on: November 30, 2007, 08:25:59 PM »
Hello, I will be going through the Navy's ATC program, does anyone have any tips on how I could best prepare myself? I am shipping out in about 1 month.

Just a few threads down, a thread about controlling in the USAF. May be of interest or help. http://www.liveatc.net/forums/index.php/topic,3804.0.html

Hi,
Although I cannot give you any specific help with your training, I can at least tell you that you are going to have an unbelievable time in the Navy, especially when you get to the fleet.
If you are lucky, you could get assigned to PriFly, (primary flight control), which when I was in the Navy, was located on the "Island" of the carrier, and the view and sights that you will see, are spectacular to say the least.
From catapult take offs to landings, you'll love it. And when you go in and out of port, to have the views you'll have going under either the G.W,bridge or the Golden Gate bridge will stay with you for life.
So with that said, the best advice I would give you is to buy a good camera, so you can share those sights with your family.
I wish you all the luck in the world, and in my old age now I envy you, stay safe and thank you for your service.
