Just sold my scanner.  I had a few problems when I first received it listening to Dulles & Reagan but no problems with ATC at Manassas which was my home airport.  Buyer emailed me that when he turns squelch control to get rid of background noise the "Busy" indicator goes out & he can't hear any transmissions. The "Signal" indicator is strong so it seems that scanner is receiving a good signal. When he moves squelch control back & can again hear background noise, it sounds like he can hear the transmissions in the interference. He has tried everything he can think of, even going to LAX so he would be close by airport to get a good signal. Also tells me he has looked for troubleshooting website but can't find one. He found idea about resetting scanner to factory specs, but it's made no difference. Is there anything you can think of that he might be missing or doing wrong? I would appreciate any ideas.

Allthough I personally don't like SMA antenna connectors (Interference) the following review is not so bad...

Quote
With squelch set minimally and no signal being received, the S-meter typically reads 3-5 units. When an actual signal is received, the BUSY indicator comes on and the S-meter reads accordingly

It appears the S-meter likes to overread too.
