What does the "IC" stand for on the frequency list?
« on: December 08, 2009, 21:49:55 UTC »
So this is a question that's been plaguing a friend and I.  Under the list of frequencies for KSFO there's a few that look like this:

IC:    134.5 351.8
ILS PRM RY 28L IC:    120.5
LDA PRM RY 28R IC:    120.5

Now, I know what PRM is, but our question is what does the IC stand for?  No one seemed to know, and the A/FD was not helpful, so I figured I'd turn here for help.  Thanks!

IC = Initial Contact. IIRC this is the first controller to contact when approaching a Class B/C airport's controlled airspace. Larger airports usually have multiple IC frequencies.
