Scanner remote control...sort of
« on: December 06, 2006, 05:29:13 PM »
I'm running my test feeder from home and listening to it at work.  So earlier I noticed it had stopped scanning and there was static.  I called my wife and asked her to adjust the squelch a bit.  About 10 seconds later all was well.  Like I said, remote control. :-D

I'm interested. Send me a PM if you really are interested and we can talk. A network like DX Tuners, but dedicated to aviation would be awesome. DJ

As long as you have some form of software radio control between your scanner and your PC and internet access you should be able to have remote control of your scanner with RealVNC or Windows Remote Desktop.

The KMIA feeder in post http://www.liveatc.net/forums/index.php/topic,1231.0.html mentioned that they use the ICOM PCR-100 and uses Windows XP remote desktop to do remote control of the scanner. However the PCR-100 is a SDR (software defined radio) receiver and not your typical Uniden. For my setup when using the BC785D Uniden, I use Butel's BC250 program for PC control.
