Greetings, I have installed an air-band radio Icom A-110 with a RAMI AV-1 Antenna and Cable Belden 9913 RG-8, and sometimes gets a noise when you pass by my house a motorcycle, this is sometimes how I can remove this noise in my radio. Greetings.
Gonz33,
Since aircraft frequencies are AM (amplitude modulation) they are susceptible to noise sources such as powerline arcing, ignition noise, lightning strikes, etc. There is not much you can do to eliminate ignition noise from passing motorcycles especially if the signals are weak and noisy and you are close to the street (noise source).
How far are you from the airport?
How high is your antenna?
You should be able to hear planes in the air strong enough to overcome the ignition noise, but ground stations and planes on the ground may be very noisy.
The Icom A-110 is a very good and expensive transceiver, so it should have a decent noise blanker built in, if it is working properly.
