RQST: ZOA Freq
« on: July 24, 2017, 02:22:43 PM »
Any one hosting ZOA able to pick up ZOA on 119.975? I believe it covers Northern California near Fortuna/Arcata before ZSE.

The "ZOA Oakland Center (35/40/41)" radio appears to have pretty good reception. While you could not hear the controller I suspect you would have good aircraft coverage in most if not all of the 119.975 Sector. This radio currently covers 134.15, 127.80, 125.85.

As 134.15 is already covered, with controller reception, over on the stable "ZOA Oakland Center (35)" radio. I'm wondering if maybe as a short term test 134.15 could be removed from the "ZOA Oakland Center (35/40/41)" radio and replaced with 119.975 and 134.975 to check reception ? These are the two ZOA high sectors to the north. (see attached chart - need to be logged into forum).

I'm crossing my fingers that someone lives close enough to a transmitter  :-) I believe a lot of the AR7B/A is on that frequency, it would be fun to hear the training and air refueling going on up there.

The latest AR charts I can find (February, 2016) show AR7B/A would be in ZOA sector 31 (134.975). Both extend north into ZSE (Seattle). AR7A into ZSE sector 14 (134.90) and AR7B into ZSE sector 13 (135.35). There is a LiveATC feed that covers ZSE14, I don't see one for ZSE13 though.

There are also the AR8A/B routes further west that extend through ZSE sector 15 (135.15) and terminate south at the border with ZOA sector 36 (119.975). ZSE sector 15 is also covered on LiveATC. If you listen to the 1800Z ZSE sector 15 archive from yesterday (July 24), starting at the 11:45 mark you can hear Quest 73 refueling with Extender 12 on AR8, then at the 25:28 mark they get handed off to 119.975.

So a 119.975/134.975 combo feed would cover both AR routes nicely.

There are 134.975 and 119.975 RCAG's located in Red Bluff. There is a LiveATC radio located near Redding which is about 25 miles north of Red Bluff supposedly monitoring ZOA42 (132.20), although I've never been able to hear ZOA on it and reception is very poor to nil, and not very stable (been down for 7 days now). Anyone out there near Red Bluff or the Redding area that can provide a reception report on 134.975, 119.975, 132.20 ?
