Im unsure of how extactly to become a ATC, should i stay at my college now or transfer to Vaughn College in NY for ATC or just apply to the FAA? just not sure what the steps needed are?

The FAA's primary method for hiring is the AT-CTI (Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative) program. Vaughn is a CTI approved school so if you're thinking of attending there or another CTI school, that would be your best bet.
CTI grads get priority hiring over other candidates. The only other hiring method the FAA utilizes for civilians is in the form of a cattle call, where a certain Center or Region administers the ATSAT in a competitive setting. Chances of getting hired in this fashion are very limited (less than 1%).
Check out these websites for more information:

Good luck!!
By the way, I just got hired through the CTI program myself and I'll be attending the FAA Academy in OKC in 3 weeks.
