Problem listening in iTunes and Windows Media Player
« on: June 24, 2010, 04:08:15 AM »
Hi,

I would like to listen to a feed in the iTunes or Windows Media Player. When I press the appropriate icon I'm taken to Windows Media Player (even though I press the iTunes icon) and get a message saying I'm trying to start a file that does not comply with the file format. The audio will not play.

When I press the Listen in browser option I get can hear the feed.

Is there a way to find the specific URL that I can enter manually into iTunes to avoid this problem and be able to listen to the feed in iTunes or Windows Media Player?

Thanks

Are you using a Mac or Windows?

I use Windows Vista

1) What version of what browser are you using?
2) What version of iTunes do you have?
3) What version of Windows Media Player do you have?

Have you tried updating (2) and (3) above?

I use:
Internet Explorer 8
iTunes version 9
Windows Media Player 11

I was able to get iTunes launced after changing the .m3u format from Windows Media Player to iTunes as standard program (m3u was tied to Windows Media Player). However some streams are still not playable in either iTunes or the Media Player such as the YPAD - Adelaide International Adelaide, South Australia, Australia stream for example.

All current versions, good.
File association fixed, good.  (Not sure why WMP is so screwy about MP3 streams)
The streams that are not playable...were they actually up at the time?  If they don't work initially, try clicking play in iTunes again and see if that helps.

Yes, they were online, and I was able to play them using the Flash and Java versions, but not WMP or iTunes...

That is very odd.  I will have to look into it when I have time.
