Probably a stupid question but
« on: October 07, 2017, 06:26:59 PM »
Can you listen to more than one feed at a time? Like the way a scanner loops through a set of frequencies?

Also is there a beginners guide to understanding what is being listened to?

Thanks!

like a scanner would be hard.

but you can for example configure VLC player to open multiple players.
it's in the preferences "use only one instance from the file manager" or you can just open the program multiple times.
but yeah you hear everything at once.

beginners guide not to my knowledge but just ask in this thread if you have specific questions.
i guess you should start listening to feeds that have good reception and are not too crowded.
understanding ground frequencies only really works if you look at airport charts. often approach procedures are also good to look at.

let's for example take KJFK tower feed has good reception and you can even select listening to one of the frequencies if they operate two at one time.
landing 13L right now so you check under
https://flightaware.com/resources/airport/KJFK/procedures
for procedures to 13L. now i presume you are watching too on flightaware or flightradar24?
then you see soon they are using the VOR13L procedure.

this gives you some guidance to what is happening. there are also some youtube channels like vasaviation and the like who make transcripts that are nice if you have a hard time understanding what is being said.

also the archives are nice because you can rewind. rewinding during a livestream would be a great feature ;P
