i just heard a couple of PD helicopters on tower doing some 'checks' around the airport... they just flew off to join up with a motorcade.

This article says the ceremony began at 1845 hours eastern time and that he took off on an alitalia 777, and that it's going to KADW before taking off at 0830 eastern time for, I assume, Rome

Apparently the VP, the Clintons, and Mayor Bloomberg were all there at Hanger 9, so there's gotta be something in the archives.

I was watching CNN at the time and they showed the pope boarding the plane as well as the plane leaving.  I didnt hear anyhting on ground or tower, but that may be because  I was listening for Air pope one.  I knew there was a one in it, thanks dorian.
