NY CAR HF Frequencies
« on: March 01, 2025, 14:08:03 UTC »
It seems that New York ARINC has not been using 6577 or 11330 on a regular basis over the last few months in the Carribean area. I was just wondering if maybe these 2 radios could be retuned to 5550 and 5520 which seem to be the 2 frequencies most often used now in the evenings and overnight, both are far busier than 6577 and 11330. Otherwise great coverage during the mornings and afternoons were 8825, 8846, 11396, 13297 have been the primaries used all winter so far.

I know it can change but it seems like for quite awhile now NY have been using 11330 and 6577 as backup frequencies only, resulting in very little traffic on them. Whereas 5520 and 5550 have been the main primary frequencies in the evenings (they usually take over from 8825 and 8846 as conditions warrant).

On average you will hear much more traffic on 5520/5550 than you will on 6577/11330. Ideally it would be great if all frequencies could be covered but with limited radios available it just seems like a better use of resources to monitor the most active primary frequencies.

I guess I spoke too soon NY is using 11330 as the primary in the southern CAR area tonight, although they are also using 5520 and 5550 in the northern area.

Hey Jet, thought you'd like to know that 5520 and 5550 are now available as their own feeds.
