CYYR - Thank you!
« on: September 23, 2017, 11:59:38 PM »
Mad props to whoever is hosting CYYR! Enjoying the increased coverage for Newfoundland, particularly Gander Center.

(On a related note, will it be possible in the future to actually host a feed at CYQX?)

Is there a possibility when the feed comes back up JUST FOR A TEMPORARY experiment say for a week that the addition of the far NORTHEAST sector of Moncton 118.875 and 132.525 be popped in there please

Will there as well be an addition of Gander St. Anthony sector of 134.3,133.0,128.6, and 124.725 to the site in the future too ?

You're welcome. This is a LiveATC equipment deployment (thanks to a friend in Goose Bay and one friend who visits there) and we are working on a possible location for one in Gander which would help us pick up a bunch more Gander Center sectors.

We have two spare receivers that can be programmed remotely but they may be used to separate out some of the sectors that transmit from Goose Bay (120.400, 127.675, 132.400, 133.425). The Gander Center setup is fairly complex to cover over a 24-hour period. But we have a single analog scanner for Gander Center and two programmable spares....so we'll figure out the best mix. Suggestions welcome but preference will always be given to sectors where the controller can be heard. At night, many sectors are combined through a repeater and you can hear both controller and pilots over a very wide area.

I'll check those frequencies you listed for activity. If they look promising then we will consider adding them...but if we can get a receiver closer to their transmitters that would be the preferred route, even though that may take time.

The frequencies of 118.875 and 132.525 are from the Natashquan transmitter in QB.

So I guess if a suggested frequency from any of us if it doesn't have PILOT/CONTROLLER is basically off limits thus leaving alot of gaps in coverage in respective sectors.

By the way there are many feeds that have been out up here that dont have P/C interaction

Lastly for years I have pointed out inaccuracies in frequency listings on many feeds here and nothing has been done

90 % of my suggestions are always shot down FROM YOU DAVE and I am willing to compromise and not have frequencies perm. added to feeds but to have them on a TEMP. experiment time frame and that is always negated as well. A few times I have even went to feeder owners and they were more than happy to edit frequencies after you tell me no.

There are alot of holes in coverage on numerous ARTCC feeds that can be plugged up.

Please dont bring the donate a radio or money thing up because not all of us have the resources to do that as well as stay up all night to listen to a feed .

There are many on board here that I talk outside this forum and they say the same thing but dont want to rock the boat.

THE MAJORITY RULES here I see and the silent few have to remain that way .

How about the MAJORITY compromising at times as many of us that arent in the Majority have to do  ? Is that a foreign concept to the Majority ?

Mike-

All I said was that preference would be given to feeds with pilot/controller reception. Not sure why you pulled that out of context.

LiveATC and its volunteers operate a large number of receivers with limited resources in some locations. Requests are not always possible to fulfill - we do our best, but I have realized over a long time now that that is not good enough for you. That's OK, I can live with that.

What I can't really understand is the level of animosity you portray.

And - old feeds portrayed as new feeds? That is not the case at all, Mike. Just because a new feed covers some of the same frequencies doesn't mean it is the same receiver - we have try to get redundancy where we can.
