Newark frequencies (KEWR)
« on: August 05, 2009, 06:46:20 PM »
Need some community input here, especially if you live near Newark, NJ and/or are aware of the frequencies in use there.

If there was a feed with multiple receivers near KEWR, I was considering the following:

Newark Ground: 121.8 126.15
Newark Tower:    118.3 134.05
New York Approach N90:    127.6 (MUGSY) 128.55 (RBV) 132.75 (DUTCHESS) 132.8 (METRO) 126.7 (SAT D)
New York Departure EWR N90:    119.2
Newark Final Vector N90: 125.85 (Rwy 11) 125.62 (Rwy 22)
Newark Clearance:  118.85
Class B: 125.5 127.85

1) Trying to verify that these are current and whether all the above have transmitters at or close to the field.

2) Trying to decide on the ideal mix of receivers (limit 8-9) and frequencies on each receiver.  Ideally minimizing the number of freqs on each receiver to no more than 2.  It is possible that it will be impossible to include all of the above, but I would rather start considering more than fewer.

MUGZY and METRO are pretty busy sectors so those would be great from the TRACON side of things. 132.75 is Liberty Catskill and I think the transmitters are farther north than the Newark area.

EWR TCA (127.85) is pretty busy as well with helicopters around the statue and also bravo transitions through the hudson. EWR North Arrival (N90) on 120.15 is also a pretty busy sector, especially when they're running the 22's.

I would love to be able to listen to the Newark approaches.  I live in Mount Arlington, NJ please advise if I can be of some assistance.

I wouldn't mind seeing the tower and TCA freqs on the same receiver, much like JFK.  It seems to carry some continuity that way.

Is the feed down until you get the new stuff up?  I've said it before, but I'll say it again...I really enjoy that guy who works the mid at EWR.

MUGSY (127.60) handles TEB, MMU, CDW, N07 traffic, as well as overflow to rwy 11 at EWR (if I have that right). It routinely gets very busy. I would suggest that it gets its own feed.  It also has my favorite controller in the whole world, I don't know his name, but he sounds like an older guy that has been doing it for many, many years. He's absolutely unflappable.
