Hey everyone,

Is their anyone keen to set up a NZ stream? it would be great to have one up and running. NZAA/AKL is preferd.

Welcome aboard Tom.
I'm in the UK but lived in NZ in the 70's..i have some recordings of HF traffic that I made whilst in Christchurch, which I hope to upload once the new audio uploading facility is available.

You can actually hear UAL840 rerouting to Nadi due to a medical emergency..

This is really interesting... A short timeframe.. All times UTC.. (UAL840 is SYD-LAX B747-400)

[HF Pacific Freq 5643]

10:37 UAL840 reports medical emergeny to Auckland on HF5643 - requesting new destination Nadi (they are well east of Nadi over the open Pacific)

10:42 Auckland cleared UAL840 dct Nadi Airport descent to FL310 (actually maintaining FL330)

10:44 Auckland recleared UAL840 dct IDNIP dct Nadi now maintain FL310

10:56 After in contact with Company United 840 requested cancelling Nadi - New request dct TUT NDB on Pago Pago to land there (American Samoa)

10:59 Auckland tells UAL840 that Pago Pago Airport is closed because the tower is not manned (The Crew was informed that Pago Pago is 24H Ops...

11:01 UAL840 canceled request for Pago Pago - cleared dct IDNIP dct Nadi again to maintain FL310

11:14 United 840 estimates IDNIP at 1150Z, Nadi at 1242Z

11:30 After further contact with Company United 840 request to cancel Nadi again, requesting dct TUT again, Pago Pago will be opened for the arrival

11:30 Auckland cleared UAL840 dct TUT again to maintain FL310

11:30 UAL840 requesting to Jettison Fuel

11:34 Auckland cleared UAL840 to Jettison Fuel

11:50 Auckland reports that they have difficulties to establish contact with Pago Pago - United Crew reporting that the company told them that controllers and airport crews are on they way should arrive within 20mins

11:51 United 840 requesting and is cleared to hold at present positon (100nm north-northeast of TUT NDB)

11:56 UAL840 reporting that Fuel Jettision is nearly completed - in the hold 100nm out TUT NDB now, requesting descent to FL150 in the hold to wait for ATC and Airport crews to arrive at the airport

12:00 Auckland clear UAL840 to descent FL250 now, to report reaching - UAL840 reporting fuel jettision completed now

12:02 United 840 maintaining FL250

12:08 United 840 is requesting lower altitude - Auckland advises UAL840 to stay in the hold at FL250 because they still haven't made contact with Pago Pago

12:10 Auckland transfers United 840 to Faleolo Appraoch on freq 118.100..

Really interesting. I was listening moments earlier, but missed all the emergency. Did you recorded it? should be pretty interesting to hear.

Unfortunately I didn't recorded it... And it seems the archives for Pacific are not up yet..
