Title: New York TRACON Liberty Sector 125.850/124.750 ?
Post by: JetScan1 on September 25, 2014, 05:46:00 PM
For the last week the New York TRACON has been using 125.850 in place of 124.750 in the Liberty South Departure sector. This sector is covered on LiveATC. First time I've heard 125.850 used by New York. Anyone know if this is a new backup frequency or maybe a permanent replacement for 124.750 ?

Not sure.  I'll look into it.

125.85 is a back-up for the N90-LGA approach complex...long ago (10+ years) it was used in place of 127.3...but they reverted back to 127.3 a few years ago. Its in central NJ (Solberg?) and is a back-up for N90 western sectors - either Liberty dep or LGA-EMPYR.

Thanks for the info. Checking the archives I see a few weeks ago they switched back to using 124.750 again.

125.850 is active today with lots of military traffic, apparently associated with the current VIP TFRs. Aircraft getting clearance into the Kilmer (sp?) AAR. I don't see 125.850 on any feeds but maybe it's there somewhere and not listed ?
