Sounds like Kennedy has a new trainee. He's working delivery right now.

Kennedy has a few new controllers. I have a buddy that is a trainee there. He was in my class at the academy. Hell, that could be him!

While the trainee comment might seem like a pretty inane one on the surface, I'd like to point out one of the evolving purposes of this site.  LiveATC, among other things, is used by pilots, ATC trainees, and experienced ATC personnel to learn from the skill and occasional errors of others.  So it might be very interesting to members of this community that trainees are on at any given time at Kennedy.

So maybe think first before making incendiary comments like "so what."  :-)  Surely you can come up with something more substantive.  We don't need the flamewars - this isn't that kind of community.

I posted because it's interesting. It's interesting because as of 2006 Kennedy had only one trainee (http://data.gannettnewsservice.com/airtraffic/facreport.php?FACID=JFK). It's remarkable since they had 6 controllers eligible for retirement at the end of 2007, and I know first hand how many trainees LGA tower had received in 2007 (many) with only 4 controllers eligible for retirement at the end of 2007. Figures like these speak volumes on a lot of current topics, namely the current controller staffing crisis and the current state of controllers working without a contract, which has an effect, for controllers and other sympathizers, on the current presidential election.

My response of "who cares" was aimed at the fact that tha FAA claims to have hired over 1000 new people last year.  There will be new trainees on many feeds across the U.S.  It was not meant to be incendiary at all.
