Title: New frequency request?
Post by: ZeusyZeus on March 10, 2016, 08:46:46 AM
Hello is it possible to request a frequency to be added to the list of available stations to listen? I want to be able to listen to a high sector got ZLA Los Angeles Center but unfortunately there is only 3 low sectors. Thanks.

What frequencies are you interested in? We try to not overload receivers, especially busy Center receivers, with too many frequencies. But depending on what you are looking for we may be able to make other accommodations. It all depends on where the ground transmitter is for the frequencies of interest.

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping 133.55 or 133.2 with 133.55 (sector 37) being the preferred. Thank you!

IMO the ZLA feed covering those 3 low sectors is busy enough, adding anymore frequencies would be too much.

A separate dedicated radio covering ZLA high sectors would be ideal. I can donate funds to help anyone who is interested in setting one up.

I'd be particularly interested in one covering Sector 28 - 132.15, the offshore sector that hands off to the Oceanic area on HF. The RCAG is located near Santa Barbara.

I see there is already a LiveATC radio located at Santa Barbara covering the airport frequencies. How practical would it be to add another radio at this location dedicated to the Center frequencies ? Also transmitting from the Santa Barbara RCAG site are 126.525 (Sector 25 High), 119.050 (Sector 15 Low), 135.500 (sector 14 Low).

The RCAG for 133.55 is located near Barstow, and for 133.20 near Seligman, Arizona, and I don't see any LiveATC radios near either location. Although a dedicated radio setup near Ontario or east of the LA area to cover these eastern ZLA sectors, even if you can only hear the aircraft, would still be helpful.

Re: Jetscan's comment: "even if you can only hear the aircraft, would still be helpful."
I agree. Since most pilots will repeat back what Center says, you still get the information
even if you can't hear Center. Of course hearing Center is the best. Thanks to all those who
are providing the Center frequencies. Much appreciated.

We provide a lot of the Center frequencies ourselves and with the help of many volunteers. Every time we put a Center feed up with airplane-only coverage we get complaints, sometimes from the same people who say they don't like airplane-only feeds.

Hard to keep everyone happy...that is one of the constants of the universe.  :-)

I totally understand Dave just thought I would make the request anyway considering there weren't any high sectors and those 2 frequencies I mentioned work the busy LAX flow which set up all the work for SCT approach. Thank you for all you guys do!

This doesn't make any sense ? Are you saying that there are people complaining about aircraft only feeds so you take them down or don't put them up in the first place ? They are better than having nothing. Perhaps the people complaining about them can just not listen, or am I missing something here ? And I'll put my money where my mouth is and donate funds for any additional Center feeds, whether they have controller reception or not.

I am glad I am not the only one that thinks this JETSCAN. Ive been listening to ATC for 40 years and yes not all feeds or feeds to come will have controller on it and I am ok with that. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY BETTER THAN NOTHING in my book.

My only comment was that it is not possible to make everyone happy all the time. :-)

Totally understand. Hopefully we won't drive you crazy. Thanks for all the hard work.
