New Boston High Sector/Frequency ?
« on: May 26, 2007, 07:48:45 PM »
For those interested, just listening to the ZBW (Atlantic) feed and it appears that ZBW (Boston) has split the Nantucket High Sector (ACK17) north/south and are using a new frequency (to me) 132.900 for the southern half (the standard 133.450 was still in use for the northern half). The NAT tracks are concentrated through that sector tonight so probably temporary to handle the volume, first time I've ever heard them split that sector. Anyone know more about this 132.900 frequency (transmitter location) ?

132.90 is a backup frequency for the PVD34 sector and an alternate frequency for the CAPE18 sector.  The transmitter is located in EWB (New Bedford, Mass).

Thanks for the info. Now they appear to be using it as a sub for 133.450 in the whole ACK17 sector (not split now).

Added 132.90 to the zbw_high feed.  If you want, I can add it to zbw_dj next time I am at that site.

If they keep using 132.900 that would be great if you could add it in. They don't seem to use 127.825 anymore (?), so if you can delete that one it would be helpful. Listening to Moncton this afternoon I heard some handoffs (high altitude) from Moncton (127.125) over to to Boston on 118.550. I've never heard this frequency in use before either ? At the same time I also heard Moncton handing off to Boston 128.050 and 134.950 so both of those were still in use. Thanks for the help Dave with the radio tuning.

DJ,

I remember maybe 3 years ago 118.55 was solely the backup for 134.95. as you stated you heard handoffs to 128.05,134.95 and 118.55 at the same time. I am surmising that maybe 118.55 might be a super high ??? Throwing my 2 cents in here.

Thanks dave, although I haven't heard 132.900 in use lately, sounds like it might have been a temporary sub. I'm always up for donating more radios to split some more sectors if you can accomodate it. DJ
