New BOS center 127.97
« on: August 05, 2019, 02:42:14 PM »
Good Afternoon

I just wanted to give a heads up that it seems BOS Center has replaced ZBW Boston Center (BOS46 High) of 118.42 with 127.97.    They have been using this new Freq for about a week now.

Thanks

This is a temporary change so far, but likely to be permanent. This frequency will be added to the 118.425 receiver tomorrow morning, but will scan between the 127.975 and 118.425 until this settles out. Also not sure yet if 127.975 is at the same transmitter site so ATC-side reception is an unknown at this time.

This change is now completed. Yesterday I verified that the new 127.975 primary transmitter is near Worcester, MA (Paxton, MA), which is not the same site as 118.425. The new site is a good transmitter site but our current BOS46 receiver is near BDL. Luckily ATC is now simulcasting on 118.425/127.975 so we're able to scan between the frequencies and catch everything, for now. When/if they abandon 118.425 transmitting then we'll need to find a new receiver site to cover this sector. Luckily it can be heard near here in southern NH and throughout the Worcester, MA area, so locating a receiver site should be relatively easy.

If anyone is near Worcester, MA and wants to host a receiver, please PM me. We need coverage of ORH and Bradley Approach...our previous site has gotten too noisy so those feeds are down now.
