MS FLight Sim X question
« on: August 14, 2007, 09:00:27 PM »
Sorry if this a little off normal topic, but does anyone have a hardware combo that will run MSFS X at an acceptable frame rate? I was flying the sim the other day and was getting pretty chapped about the poor performance. I had the scenery backed off so far that the taxiway signs were non existent. I was missing turns and so on. It's driving me nuts.

I'll bet money that there is a computer geek or two on this forum. It's about box-building time in my world. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody has a suggestion or three. Will the twin video card SLI  thing help?

Thanks!

Any modern computer will run flightsim X at very high to max settings with all the addons your heart desires !

However to keep the FPS at or over 25fps with these kinds of settings

I would suggest at bear min PC with at least

OS-Vista
CPU-AMD64 2.4Ghz
RAM-2g
Video card (any modern PCE with at least 256mb of ram will do just fine) Hint here...... never run flightsim with SLI always leave room to add more monitors

Remember this would be the bear min PC that will get you up to that............ o hell ya baby 25fps !!  with very high settings and all the new fun stuff that goes with it:-)

So the bear min price you ask ???  well plan on spending about $500 (with out monitor) for a starter PC to get you up in the air with FSX

Hope that helped put a smile on your face :-) see its not soooooooo bad

Have fun

Rubbish.

With *all* details at *max* you'ld be happy getting 8 fps.

Things might be a lot better in about a year. That is, after fsx sp2, after vista's sp1 and after nvidia/ati got their drivers working correctly.

As long as we're talking FSX, check out this very cool video:

I thought so too.  The person(s) who put that together has a lot talent.  It was a fun video to watch.
