Massive Fires in Perth
« on: January 18, 2005, 11:38:54 PM »
There are currently a few large fires burning in the Perth area and have covered Perth in smoke reducing the visibility to below 2000 meters. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me putting in the firebombing frequencie to be scanned there are currently 5 fixed wing bombers and 4 helitac fire bombers fighting the fire. Let me know and I will put it in if anyone is interested in listening?

Cheers
Scott

Yes thanks Scott.

I've heard a few references to degraded visibility in that region so far. It would be good to hear it from a fire ops perspective as well.

Cheers

The firebombing frequency will now be scanned in replacement of skipper operations for the remainder of fir season unless requested otherwise. The visibility has cleared up a lot more than earlier but still a large amount of smoke to the north east of Perth and also a light smoke haze remaining over the whole of Perth.

Will keep you updated

Thanks Scott,

I heard you tapping away on what I assume to be a UBC780XLT at about 09:13z. Hope there's no substantial loss of property for you sandgropers as a result of the fires.

Cheers

Yep that was me making the changes however there wont be much activity on the bombing frequencies as it is now becoming sundown here and all the bombers have headed back to Perth and Jandakot. However tommorow if the news predict right should be just as busy for them and also just as smokey for everyone else!
