LSZH Feed's - what happend?
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:56:06 PM »
Does anyone know, why all LSZH Feeds are down and a new Radar/Tower LSZH Feed is on air, where Tower is completely missing? Tower LSZH Feed was very stable the last months...

greetings from LSZH
Carino

The main LSZH feeds are down for a few days due to some local network reconstruction work.

Also waiting for them to be back online :-(  I always listen to it while walking the dog, as we live right below the ILS 16 and have ILS 14-Arrivals in sight ^^   This week the Rolling Stones should arrive! :-O

Most of the LSZH streams come from a single receiver site. Two of them come from other sites. The provider had an internet router or modem change and has had internet connection issues ever since. The provider is busy with his normal business and does not have a lot of time to debug getting the feeds back online. I have been trying to work with him but his schedule seems too busy to deal with this issue at the moment. Hopefully we will have a fix soon.

In the interim, I am looking for a new receiver site not far from LSZH so we can deploy a new set of redundant receivers, with the possibility that the original (down) site may not come back online.

Sorry for the down time - but these things happen and we are slave to infrastructure issues all around the world.

Regarding sites: if you have the possibility to somehow set up an antenna on the side of Hoeriberg towards the airport, you should have direct view to tower. You might not get most aircraft on ground, as the terminals are inbetween. Or even better: if it's possible to set up a system on a roof of the big company buildings at Rümlang? (Runway axis 28 and "view" into the docks and nearly most apron "visible")

Just as an idea. I currently have no possibility to set up something like this, as I am a student at ni and have no time or.money ^^

A small additional question: is it possible to have the archive on Tower#3 Feed on LSZH activated?

Thanks for the heads up...that was an oversight and has been corrected. First archives will start recording at 1900 UTC.

If you want to put me in touch with the provider, happy to help with labour or a donation.

I would also be willing to help in the setup of a new location with time and money (unfortunately, we live in Küsnacht, under 34 final, but too far from the airport for a good reception).

Just out of curiosity are you able to hear the controllers working any of the following Swiss Control enroute frequencies from Kusnacht ?

132.815
132.835
133.050
133.405
133.690
134.605

I suspect some of the transmitters might be located up in the mountains and reception range could be quite far ?

Scanner is back, and yes, I can also hear the controllers on most of the frequencies. Unfortunately not on the LSZH frequencies.

Any news on the feed? Can we volunteer to help the feed owner bring the feeds back?

It would be great to have a LiveATC feed dedicated to those Swiss enroute frequencies, especially the ones you can hear the controllers on. Very busy and interesting airspace in that area. Any chance you could setup a feed covering some of those frequencies ?

We expect some LiveATC equipment to go online this week. Just not 100% sure which day.

Nice feeds, great controller reception on the enroute frequencies, thanks for those !

Just curious if you know if you can hear the controller with the same strength on 132.835 and 133.690 ? These two frequencies cover FL360 to FL370 and FL380 and above respectively, and are usually combined. If you have the reception and could accommodate it, one additional feed covering either one of those frequencies would then give you coverage of all altitudes above FL250.

FYI the frequency coverage is as follows.

133.900 = FL240 and below - East (often combined with North 136.150)
133.050 = FL250 to FL310 - South (usually combined with 133.405)
133.405 = FL250 to FL310 - North (usually combined with 133.050)
132.815 = FL320 to FL330 (usually combined with 134.605)
134.605 = FL340 to FL350 (usually combined with 132.815)
132.835 = FL360 to FL370 (usually combined with 133.690)
133.690 = FL380 and above (usually combined with 132.835)

During the slower times all low (FL240 and below) are combined and the FL250 to FL350 frequencies combine together, on the overnight after around 2200UTC all frequencies are combined together.

Just a thought, but now that the high frequencies (FL250 and above) are covered on their own feeds would it make sense to remove them from the "LZSH feed" that is scanning multiple frequencies and just concentrate on the ones that are not covered, like the low (FL240 and below) frequencies 128.050, 135.675, 136.150 (although it's usually combined with 133.900), and maybe departure 125.950 ?

Thanks again for the new feeds, great job !
