Do you mind saving the ALL CAPS for the administrator's messages?
I personally prefer we don't turn this into a tabloid of sensationalism.

As for the article, I've seen worse:

09-Aug-2009
A332/W   Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM / AMS)   Lester B. Pearson Intl (CYYZ)   06:35PM CEST      Diverted
09-Aug-2009
A332/W   Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM / AMS)   Hamilton/John C. Munro Int'l (CYHM / YHM)   06:35PM CEST   08:44PM EDT   8:09
10-Aug-2009
A332/Q   Hamilton/John C. Munro Int'l (CYHM / YHM)   Lester B. Pearson Intl (CYYZ)   03:24AM EDT   03:49AM EDT   0:25

For those interested in voicing their opinions, here is the passenger advocates (US) website:
http://www.flyersrights.com/

Airline Passenger Bill Of Rights
http://www.petitiononline.com/airline/petition.html

If I was to own and run an airline these days, I would turn each seat into a one-armed bandit, providing hours of entertainment to passengers whilst filling my coffers. Unfortunately, I think congress in the US has already outlawed this.

What sort of herd mentality leads to people sitting quietly for 14 hours in a small tube. I'm not sure where my threshold is... maybe 4 hours... maybe 6... but at some point I'm up at the cockpit door banging on it yelling take us back to the gate... I know that's all "illegal" and everything and maybe I'd be met at the gate by an air marshal... but seriously... isn't that preferable to sitting in hell for 14 hours? I literally don't think I could take it.

If I were stuck in Hamilton, Ont., I'd rather be stuck on a plane. Besides, the passengers may have been allowed to disembark in this instance and were provided with ground transport, else it would have made the morning news.

I would have lit up a cigar inside the plane and they would have called the local police and had me escorted off the flight...problem solved.
