With the New Year comes new challenges... (our LiveATC years run Feb 17 to Feb 17 :D)
We're compiling a list of the Top Ten Most Wanted sites. Think of it this way - if we could put a site anywhere we wanted, no limits on the imagination at all, where would YOU want it to go?
For example, given the future of civilian space travel, I'd like to see a feed from Mojave - the worlds first civilian spaceport. Scaled Composites is doing a lot of flight testing there, and I think it would be a great change of pace from the normal ATC we're used to.
But that's just my vote. Add yours (3 or so is fine) to this thread, and we'll compile them into a list. So... what site could we add that would cause you to be "plugged in" all day long?

#1: A network of radio scanners that can can be remotely controlled by the listener through the internet. Similar to the DX Tuners concept, but dedicated strictly to aviation and with scanning capability. A free for all system were anyone could tune anytime wouldn't work, so I envision a user pay system were you could buy block time and reserve the radio for your own use. You could keep the audio available to everyone, but sell the control. This way you could make some extra money to support the network, maybe even enough money so Dave could buy his own Learjet (think thousands of scanners worldwide).
#2: More radios dedicated to enroute centers (even if you can't hear the controllers).
#3: On exisiting radios at busy locations. Stop trying to scan so many busy frequencies at the same time. If you're going to monitor approach control at a busy airport the frequency is going to be active almost 100% of the time, so it's totally pointless trying to listen to tower/ground/clearance/enroute at the same time as well.
#4: Turn the frequency delay and priority functions OFF. Very annoying.
#5: Total worldwide global domination, a system that could that cover all ATC freqeuncies on the planet. After Dave makes billions, using idea #1 above, he can launch a few LiveATC.Net satellites that could be used to monitor all frequencies. (Bwahahahaha - Dr. Evil voice).
6#: Actually speaking of satellites, a receiver that could pick up SATCOM voice and CPDLC datalink communications would be cool.

1---Potomac TRACON
2---Like Jetscan1 I too would like to hear more ARTCC feeds even though most are one sided transmissions.
3---Atlanta APP/DEP
4---Atlanta ARTCC High/Low in the Western SC and Eastern GA area's especially NE departures from ATL and Traffic overflying IRQ(Colliers VOR)
5---Less buffering of feeds
6---And lastly Maps of TRACONS AND ARTCC'S linked with the feed being provided  8)
-
1- Dial up option (lower bandwidth)
2- Less buffering.
Feeds from places like Iceland or Newfoundland.....

I just want to say thank you for probably the best site on the internet!
-
I agree with pretty much everything listed so far, but wanted to add KSTL to the group.

DEN - Someone buy some property out there in the boonies....
As I told my friend Jordan, it will be near impossible to get a DEN feed unless Sean/Dave hook up for the Authority at DEN to run it on site. No houses out there within what maybe 20-25 miles...

I can run an ORD feed provided a computer shows up at my doorstep ready to rock. I just don't have a extra one to dedicate to a feed.

DO IT!!!!!!!! no presure I would just love O'hare.

Definetly EWR.
Also EKCH, Copenhagen Kastrup. The airport authority recently upgraded their webcams and now there are 3 different cameras showing airside movements. Its great to watch and listen similar to Zurich!

What are the software/hardware requirements? I have an _OLD_ P1/P2(?) machine that I might be able to send... being old, if we can install Linux and have it work...?
-
Just any machine that has sound card and can run Linux or Windows will do it.

Well, if that's the case, I have a computer, a small hard drive, and can throw in some Ubuntu disks and it should be ready to rock. I don't have an extra monitor though.
illini52 - if you're interested, please send me a PM and we can figure out the details. :)
-
Well, hmm... that with the monitor might be a problem... I suggest that you check with Dave wether the streaming software for Linux supports remote management. If such is the case you should not really need monitor.
-
These days, you can do anything with remote management/control/desktop/etc via VNC or other software. You can always move your monitor over, set it up, and leave it too. :)
-
MDW
That would be nice, lots of action there that we have missed so far.
I want to set up a feed I just don't have another computer or a scanner yet. Does anyone know if setting up a feed slows down a computer that much? I have 512ram.

Moses Lake, Washington. All the Japan Air Lines heavies do touch and go's there all the time.

Your # 9 should be online soon, hopefully next week some time. I was not impressed by the scanner I purchased & received yesterday, so ordered a different one which I hope will do the job.

I'll pick Tokyo Narita International Airport (RJAA)
-
ok again I am going to go with

EDDF would be a blast. Laso, I like the previously mentioned idea where you could choose the channel 9app/ground/del) yourself. I also take (perverse) pleasure in listening to company channels
-
EGLL - we can all dream.... :-)
ANY news of a break through here or are the British still been stubborn.......EGLL would be a great catch to listen to.
Bogman
-
I would like Bangor, Maine (KBGR) added.
Lots of widebody troop charters, plus AN-124s. Also, Bangor is often used for refueling and medical emergencies.

TNCM-you know, Princess Juliana, St Martin, the one where the airplans fly close enough to the beach you can almost touch them? Well, close enough. :-o

Thx,

Tks

Better quality on DEN feed.
Additions to LAX area: ZLA, LA Center freqs
-
well, world is bigger than US, other than Tokio, Canada and some latin country, not an outside airport...why? does anyone have space shuttle frequencies? that would be nice... what about free airnav with feed sound to follow flight real time? LAX, ORD, ATL, JFK are good but MMMX doesn´t sound very well, it doesn´t have tower freq, only app, so maybe some of the feed should have app and tower working properly, but fix MMMX, so I wouuld ask for a good MMMX feed
-
Definetly EWR.
Also EKCH, Copenhagen Kastrup. The airport authority recently upgraded their webcams and now there are 3 different cameras showing airside movements. Its great to watch and listen similar to Zurich!
Both EWR and EKCH would be great!
-
I'd like to see some people put up ACARS and ADS-B information, for some of the major airport a few people do this in australia for YSSY and you can see live or near live with a lot more info then Flightaware. Only for major airports tho like JFK so we can track the planes and see and hear them lining them up for approach.
Now that would be way cool!...
-
I find myself bouncing between the LiveATC coverage map & FlightAware's map when following a flight.
I'd like to see different views (overlays?) of the LiveATC coverage map that include:
a) VFR sectional
b) IFR charts
c) Center boundaries (Maybe color-coded to show if they're available on LiveATC).
(If this happens, next year I'll ask for the ability to punch in flight route info & have it display on the map. That way I'd know which Center a flight I'm following is in.)

The world's busiest airport - KATL
Atlanta, GA.

would love to listen to KRFD again especially at night with all the UPS flights in and out of there
