He took "I" up for a spin? Typical of a 5 year old but not a reporter, I would think.
Actually, this is correct english. 'Me' is bad grammar when including more than one person as the object:
I have been known to make my share of grammatical mistakes but I am pretty sure that in the quoted sentence "Dave" is the subject, not "Jenn Platt and I."
If you ever been to England or Scotland, you'd know that the reporter was using 'proper English'
BTW, English is always capitalized
