Video follows...may be slow to load.

I'm sure you noticed already, but they label it as liveatc.com. That's unfortunate, because this is substantial.
-
Yes, they acknowledged the error but still never fixed it, even in the online version. Not a big deal...someone is squatting on the liveatc.com domain. If someone bothers to Google LiveATC or live atc, they will wind up here every time.
And it's really not that huge a deal but it's nice for us to get a little PR.

I knew that JFK feed was going to be big when you were having it set up. Nice job Dave!!
-
Surprised Marion Blakley didn't take that opportunity to blame the delays at JFK on general aviation.
Also, the report makes LiveATC sound so official, almost governmental. "An aviation group that monitors air traffic communications." :)

What was kind of funny was that red blinking light behind her when she was speaking.

Ah, somewhat symbolic of her leadership as FAA Administrator, yea?
-
Just curious, Dave - Did NBC ask you for permission first, or did they just grab the clip and give the site the credit?
-
No, they contacted me.
-
Once they know you can provide viable information for them, they will come back to you for more. That is a good thing, right?
-
No, they contacted me.
Very cool. Hopefully next time they get the website correct. :)
-
Cool I wish I could have seen the clip on TV instead of the post but cool that I got to see it either way.
-
I think I'm gonna hear "if you've been stuck in an airport before" in my sleep. :-D
-
I hope the media doesn't use the clips off this site to work against GA and aviation in general. I could see it getting out of hand very quickly if they get their hands on some of the clips that people on this site find funny, the media will most likely put a spin on it and use it as a negative for aviation.
-
We do everything possible to prevent that from happening. The airwaves here are open, though, and anyone can come up with these recordings on their own.
People have predicted doom and gloom for centuries...seldom are people's fears ever realized.
But your concern is valid - like any user-contributed site, we do whatever we can to police what gets posted here. But you would think the people posting stuff would take that first step - that is, to use common sense. Then they wonder why their posts get deleted. :-)

So how exactly does an Etihad pilot getting confused relate to JFK being overcrowded? :?
Methinks they could have found more appropriate clips than that.

It's completely irrelevant, but then again, no one said the mainstream media was real smart to begin with (especially aviation stories).

Next time you can help them wade through hundreds of hours of clips. :-)
Hopefully you have a lot of free time.

True indeed.

Well, I do have a lot of free time at the moment. :-) Hell, these days, you can pretty pick a random 5 minutes between the hours of 5 and 8 at JFK and you'll get something good.

Any clue as to the new airspace plan at the end of this summer near JFK is going to be? Maybe a reconfiguring of the initial fixes to ease up the load on Departure and Center
(Hope it doesn't mean the end of my favorite approach, the parkway visual 13L/R)
