Andrews AFB - Top Secret?
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:05:23 PM »
I record a handful of guard and air-to-air frequencies as well as extended range ARINC VHF, the recording software (Scanner Recorder) having a VOX function that compresses a days worth of recording into about an hour of listening. Tonight I was reviewing todays material and I heard "Falcon One" calling "Andrews tower" on guard (121.5) at 19:12:48Z this afternoon.

Two questions:

First, does anybody know who "Falcon One" could be? Often it is used for a flight leader or even an entire special team in the military, and perhaps it could just be a lone F-16 flying cover over Washington or something. As I am in Connecticut I obviously could not hear the tower respond, and I note that there are no LiveATC feeds for ADW or even Potomac APP on 119.3, so I could not find that flight in any of the archives. If anybody has an idea as to who Falcon One is feel free to tell me as long as you do not subsequently have to kill me.

Which leads to the second thing.... when will somebody volunteer to feed ADW, which would doubtless be interesting and busy what with our President flying AF1 down to the 7/11 to pick up a pack of Newports every day? Perhaps prospective volunteers are afraid the "Black Helicopter" team will come and extract them in a pre-dawn raid?

jeps ,

Falcon1 is in fact a C-37A based in Europe ( Chievres- Shape airbase , Belgium) and has always been 01-0076 .

There is a unit of the DC Air National Guard based at Andrews flying F-16s, so it wouldn't be unusual to see or hear one though.
