Scanners
« on: June 07, 2006, 03:09:51 AM »
I've been researching for awhile and have been searching these forums aswell. I compared the difference between the Uniden's BC898T and BC780XLT. I also looked at the PRO-2052 from http://www.radioshack.com. Now, I hear the 780XLT is more rare to find these days? If that's the case, would the 898T be a better choice over the 2052? Price isn't really an issue, I just want to invest in an item i'll get the most out of, user-friendly, and top technology. I'm hoping to broadcast the San Jose Mineta Intl. airport on this site with my new purchase. Thanks!

Steve

The 780XLT is rare these days because it is no longer being manufacturered by Uniden.  I have one and I believe dave has one and it is a great scanner.  ...probably the best one I've ever bought.  The 27 band scanning capability, trunk tracking, keypad, great display, software for programming frequencies, and many more features make it a great buy.

If you find a nice 780XLT for sale, grab it as quickly as possible and enjoy.  It's a great piece of equipment.

Regards,
Jason

I was looking through Ebay and saw only about 5 listed. My next question would be, what's a reasonable price for a used BC780XLT? I can tell these are a popular model, about 5-8 bids were placed on the up coming closing auctions.

It's all about supply and demand, like most things in life.  :-)

It all boils down to...what's it worth to you?

If you can get a BC780XLT for under $400 I consider that a great deal.
