HAPPENING NOW: Vintage plane crash lands at DCA this morning
« on: June 08, 2010, 14:19:51 UTC »
Action at DCA This morning:

Two flights of Stearman aircraft were inbound to DCA for a special flight this morning.  One of the aircraft overturned on landing, closing Runway 1.  The two individuals on board apparently walked away from the aircraft, however things are gummed up at DCA with runway 1 closed.   Feed available at KDCA Tower, as well as audio archive, might be entertaining to listen to.

The internet is an amazing thing...

Here is a link to video from both the outside, as well as on board the flight.

Looked like the brakes were locked up as soon as they touched down.

Glad they walked away from it.  Shows you what a good trainer the Stearman was.  :)
