KPHX Feed is not KPHX
« on: May 17, 2009, 09:05:10 PM »
I have been listening to KPHX for some time and the fed that is currently up on liveatc.net is not KPHX. It seems to be some kind of Arizona local delivery to small airports, like Scottsdale, but it is not Sky Harbor arrival or departure. Does anyone know what happened to KPHX and or what the feed is that is running on liveatc? If it is Scottsdale it should not be listed as KPHX.

Right now there are TRACON frequencies being fed.  I just heard a pilot being told to intercept the 7R localizer - is that not KPHX?

In the future we will have broader and deeper coverage of Phoenix.

We will check on the list of current frequencies to make sure it is up to date.

Yes, Dave, that does sound like Phoenix, so maybe something was hit by accident.

Currently, the PHX feed monitors the following frequencies:
South Arrival
South Departure
South Satellite
North Ground
ZAB Sector 39

Empire1guy, what your probably referring to is the South Satellite (Pima) sector. That sector gives aircraft practice approaches, flight following, and all IFR aircraft out of CHD and IWA etc. That sector operates from the P50 TRACON (along with all the other approach/departure sectors). Let me know if you have any more questions.

cactushp, I read your reply, but I am not hearing ground or the arrival or departure..I am not familiar with ZAB Sector 39...maybe that is the problem, because I dont hear Sky Harbor. Maybe I am crazy...not ruling that out.

Empire, I think the reason you can't hear that particular frequency is because Cactushp can't get those from where he's at. He can only get some of the departures and only the north ground.

If Cactushp had a better antenna and little more elevation he could get all those other freqs.

Hey Scott any chance of posting the frequencies you can get other than just the labels. So we know what you can get verses what you can't?

After reading all of your replys, i thought i might add that i am In the Phoenix Valley, 3 miles South-East of Chandler Municipal, I'm pretty sure that i can get chandler tower and possibly Stellar Airpark if i get  scanner. but i don't think i can reach the KPHX approaches/Departures. unless Dave knows where the Red Box is sitting in the valley. I believe it is out near buckeye, thought,

I am looking at the Bearcat/Uniden BC350C from
www.scannermaster.com, just as a starter til i get my feet in the water. (just testing the waters)

(look in the SkyVector window I live at the, near the bottom, right corner)

The frequencies that the feed is currently scanning are the "clear" frequencies. I receive biltmore and navajo, but they are very scratchy.
