As soon as someone volunteers. :-)
I offered to broadcast the Oshkosh event this year but every magazine and sponsor I contacted never answered. :-(

I was thinking of having KOSH Oshkosh. I am having problems. what do i all need for the live feed????

There is an outside possibility that I could do an Oshkosh feed for the week of the EAA convention. I know a few guys who live in town that might host the equipment for a short time.
My big question though....with so many frequencies of almost non-stop chatter, would I need to do more than one stream? If so, how many?

As far as I understand it, to host a feed you need:
1. A scanner/antenna that can pick up the frequencies you want with a headphones or line out jack on the back.
2. A computer with a line in/mic jack on the sound card or motherboard running linux or windows. The computer doesn't need to be very powerful, so it seems like a good use for an older machine that does't get used any more.
3. A permanent connection to the internet (anything more than dial up is fine, dial up is not quite enough)
Basically, you set the scanner to get the freqs you want, then use a cable from the back of your scanner to the computer to feed the scanner output into the computer.
Free software runs on the computer that sends the feed to liveatc.net, where dave reflects it out into the public streams.
You dont even really need a monitor on the machine, once its all set up it just sits there. You could use remote access software like VNC (free) if its a windows box, or ssh if its a linux box to admin the system once its set up.
I'm looking for someone on-airport to house the equipment for me. I will supply all the hardware and set it up and maintain it, they just need to provide me a little space to put the computer/scanner/antenna. I plan on asking dave if I can put the little logo for them in the listing, like you see in a few of the current listings. Makes great sense for an FBO or other on-airport business since lots of pilots visit this site

I understand how it works, but my question specific to Oshkosh is this: Since there are at least three frequencies with almost non-stop chatter, it seems I would need three separate systems, one stream for each frequency. Or can Stream Transcoder handle three streams on one machine?

I believe as long as you have 3 sound cards, and three versions of Sound Transcoder with different web addresses for the stream it might work. That's a lot of $$ right there.

Stream Transcoder supports multiple sound cards. So one PC can send out multiple separate streams. You need a scanner for each sound card. Stream Transcoder keeps a separate configuration for each sound card in the Windows Registry.

Interesting software. I didn't know it could do that. I guess their is always more room for expansion for my feed :lol:

Looking at this old discussion, I will see if I can come up with a second stream by the time EAA AirVenture happens this year. Assuming there there will again be two tower approach freqs for the event, I would probably stream them.

I'm down in Madison and I usually spend the week at the fly-in every year. I would come up with a second machine if you wanted to host it for the week.
