KJFK Tower reception
« on: October 08, 2018, 11:55:15 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that in the past few weeks the quality of reception for the KJFK tower feed has declined dramatically? It used to be crystal clear, and now the transmissions of the controllers, in particular, is often intermittently cut off or missing entirely. Have listened on app and via computer, several headphones, etc. Have become convinced that something on the feed/provider side of things must have shifted... Anyone else?

Thanks!

The reception varies. Not sure what it is.

There are separate feeds for the frequencies, mostly the tower is on 119.1 sometimes also on 123.9
Those dedicated feeds are better quality at the moment, i believe it's a different location.

Noticed the same thing. Could the antenna site for the combined feeds have taken a beating from the various t-storms that went through the NY metro area a couple weeks ago?

OK, I had not noticed the other tower options (KJFK tower #2 and #3), or had assumed they were clones of the KJFK Tower feed.  Both #2 and #3 seem to have better reception (at least they do tonight). Thanks!
