Controller Reception on JFK Area No1 Feed
« on: July 09, 2024, 15:18:10 UTC »
Attached a new antenna to my JFK Area #1 feed and placed it in a different location on my roof.  Because of the new location, this feed can now hear the controllers from ZBW 134.0, 125.575 and 128.1 all of which are out of the Shelton RCAG in Connecticut.  Controller reception seems to vary from marginal but readable to good.  It's actually remarkable considering the distance.  Go figure.  Running some more tests using different scanner radios as well as an SDR.  At the moment, the feed is connected to a Uniden BCT8 scanner that is scanning these three frequencies and so far this radio seems to perform a little better than others.  Considering creating individual feeds for all three of these ZBW frequencies.  Comments welcome...

I always appreciate separate feeds when it can be done.  Much easier to follow routine operations, and you don't miss big chunks of unusual operations while the scanner is on other frequencies.
