KDEN feed changes
« on: October 18, 2011, 03:00:29 PM »
Hello all,

I am in the process of splitting the KDEN feed in the hopes of making it easier to listen to. The second feed is actually up and running with CLNC DEL / GND / TWR and I will be revising the original feed to carry just APP/DEP 24/7and ZDV (overnight).

Thanks to those of you listening and I hope this will make it more enjoyable for you! :-D

Some of us put these feeds into our iTunes.  Can you let us know when the complete switch over is finished so that we could add the new feed to our list? Thank you.

134.975 - S46 U-Hi Pueblo

I believe 134.975 has been changed to 124.775.

FYI other High Altitude Sectors that are in range of DEN that are not on your list.

126.325 - S9
120.575 - S16
134.125 - S28, FL270-FL330
124.225 - S67

Looking forward to listening to the feed.

Thank you - I have made the change for Sector 46 Ultra-Hi Pueblo.

As for the others, I have only put those freqs in the list that I have logged in the past, and the ones you listed below have never been logged from here in full scans of 118-137.
I can certainly add them to another scanner to see if that changes in the future.

Thanks again for the input!

FYI to all - it appears we are having an issue with Oddcast here as both feeds are carrying the same audio (Odd cast only recognizing one "USB Headphone Set"?) even though there are two unique inputs.
Will get it fixed as soon as we figure out why...

I keep a database of ARTCC sector frequencies and sector configurations. It would be interesting to listen to different ZDV center frequencies and configurations from time to time, just to confirm frequency and sector configuration. During normal hours scanning all frequencies would be too much, but I was wondering if there was a way to maybe set different configurations up from time to time, this would only be for a short period like a day or so on each configuration.

Configurations I would be interested in checking out:

1) High Altitude South

124.775
135.400
132.225
127.525
134.125

2) High Altitude East

126.875
133.950
132.175
127.650
124.225
127.025

3) High Altitude North-Northeast

133.175
134.575
120.575
126.325

Again I would only need to listen to each configuration for a day, just to confirm frequency and sector configurations. If your reception range is good I'd be happy to donate funds for a third radio dedicated to enroute ARTCC. PM if you are interested.

DJ

Problem resolved.
Everytime I have an issue with USB on a Windows O/S, I can't help but remember the CES where Bill Gates was showing the audience how well they integrate with USB (a flatbed scanner, I think) and he plugged the USB in and everyone got to see a giant version of the BSOD

Wouldn't putting clearance on the same scanner as ground and tower just result in hearing a lot of babble from clearance and not a lot of tower and ground?  I really question what the point of a clearance feed is at all to begin with, but it seems like combining it with something else will just result in never hearing anything else.

0400z = 2200 MT or 0000 ET currently

Now, it does appear the OddCast issue I reported earlier in this thread is happening on a nightly basis now. That being that "Feed 1" (App/Dep/ZDV) stops listening to USB device 1 and instead listens to USB device 2 (TWR/GND). Is that what you heard on the App/Dep/ZDV Feed last night?

Not being an aviation expert (more of an enthusiast), I am always open to suggestion. That being said, if folks here want Clearance Delivery taken off, then off it goes.

What say you all?

Im down with eliminating clearance et. al.  I was hoping if you would consider putting the center frequencies in maybe 1 or 2 hours earlier for those of us on the East Side. Also if you get that other radio through AIRSCAN that one would be nice to dedicate to the center frequencies and alternate as he indicated.

Thanks

Duly noted...I'll wait for a couple others to chime in as well...

I'm not opposed to this - easy enough to do...

At this time, until we can resolve the issue with the misdirected audio across multiple USB devices, I am not ready to consider this yet...

Thanks Mike,

Mike

I will be the first to admit that other than the TX sites at Denver, Longmont and sometimes Brush, I usually can't hear the ground side of Denver Center comms. However, I do hear pilots checking in passing into Sectors inside of CO above FL 330 routinely...

What is the reason for the center freq being on a schedule?

The feed is airport-centric, ZDV is filler overnight.

My vote would be to remove Clearance Delivery as well. Given the volume of traffic at DEN I would also remove Ground too and just monitor the Tower frequencies only. Thanks for setting up the feed and for considering the feedback from listeners !
