Hi all,

Been considering going to Beaver for the ATC school. Is anyone famliar with it? If so, is it a certification program, or do you take other courses (math science, etc)??

Also, how long does it take, and how much is the cost?

Im 27, so as you can imagine I have a home, and a job. It would be a big jump for me, but probably a good one too.

cheers,

-N.

You may want to consider this:

http://faa.gov/ahr/policy/hrpm/emp/emp-1-20.cfm

I've heard there's a decent waiting list for the program at Beaver Creek.  Not to familiar with that program, but I know almost all the Controller Training Initiative programs are four years, and that's based on a four year plan.  I don't know one person that I'm graduating with in May who got through the program in four years.

Hope this doesn't discourage you, but definatly something to consider very closely.

Not to make this into an advertising session but I think anyone enrolled in the program will tell you it is a good one.  Here is a link to address your questions about the cirriculum.  Any other questions, email me and I'll get back to you.

Wow, we replied the same minute!  Looks like Beaver is two years.  Again, not sure about the waiting list.  If it's long, it may be pretty close, and I'd think that all the other CTI programs are out of the question.

As far as I know, all the rest of the CTI schools are 4 year, but you also have a bachelor's in Avation Management or something with a similar name when you're done.  That way you're not limited to ATC if you end up being unable to pursue that.  I'd advertise Purdue to you, but looks like your only bet is Beaver.

It's a two year program with Terminal or En Route options.  However, our waiting list goes all the way to Fall '07.  Also you MUST get your Private Pilot's certificate as part of the program.  Keep in mind FAA will only hire you until your 31st birthday, then you're disqualified.

Hey guys,
I graduated from the program at CCBC in May. The program there was really well run. All the supervisors and teachers are very helpful, know the stuff and very easy to get along with. The best part about going to CCBC is the active tower at BVI in which students can train in under supervision. I learned more from my mistakes in the tower than I did in the class rooms. It's a great program and if you can get on the waiting list i would recommend it. Any questions...lemme know and i'll try my best to answer.

I'm attending Fall of 2006! making a career change at 25. I'm only interested in the CTO portion of the terminal program I have some connections that almost garuntee a position in a FATC contract tower.

Congratulations Nick....that's really good to hear.  It's always a bold move making a career change and uprooting your life but I think it'll be worth it for you.  If you have any questions about the program feel free to email me.
