Hi
Any idea when the KBGR feed will be back up it has been intermittent for the last couple of days but now its down permanently now :-( :-(

It's only been down for 18 hours. There appears to be a network or hardware issue at the site. We track all outages and when they've been down for 24 hours we start working on restoration. It can take a while in "unmanned" sites like BGR is.

Speaking of the Bangor feed, just wondering if maybe Boston Center 120.250 could be added ? This seems to be the frequency used most often for BGR arrivals and departures.
-
120.25 is covered on the KHUL feed. 124.25 is the only ZBW transmitter that can (sometimes) be heard from BGR. We'll probably remove 128.05 (covered at KHUL) from the BGR Approach/Departure feed since it is redundant and not useful. We recently installed a special filter at KHUL which has eliminated the AWOS interference we had previously for a long time.
The ZBW frequency used for flights into and out of BGR varies between 124.75 and 124.25...sometimes 128.05.
In that part of Boston Center (Area D) there has been a lot of sector combining due to COVID-19. This is due to much lower traffic levels as well as staggered working days for controllers to avoid COVID-19 taking the whole ARTCC down to ATC Zero. This affects communication monitoring when you are trying to focus on a particular area.

Thanks for the update John

Sorry that should be
Thanks for the Update...... Dave :-)

Dave,
120.25 is covered on the KHUL feed.
Except its 104nm from BGR and with no controller reception none of the BGR traffic is being covered on either side. And don't they primarily use 124.750 from HUL, I don't think you are getting anything up there on 120.250 ?
The ZBW frequency used for flights into and out of BGR varies between 124.75 and 124.25...sometimes 128.05.
Has something changed ? A random sampling of 20 BGR departures over the last few days and all the handoffs to ZBW, in various directions, have been to 120.250.
124.25 is the only ZBW transmitter that can (sometimes) be heard from BGR.
The FAA AFF lists both 124.250 and 120.250 at the Saint Albans RCAG (27nm from BGR). Have you tried 120.250 from there recently ? BGR APR can get busy at certain times so I can see there are merits to not having ZBW reception there, but if your intent is to cover BGR flights working ZBW in that area you're not hearing anything.
We'll probably remove 128.05 (covered at KHUL) from the BGR Approach/Departure feed since it is redundant and not useful.
Agree, it's covered better on the other feed.

Yeah I've never heard anything like it the last few months, even the 128.750 controller was working this sector the other day.
Cheers,

I fly that airspace a few times a year (usually to KPQI). They hold us on 120.25 for quite a while - I usually have to remind them to switch us to 124.75 (Caribou ME RCAG). Point being that 120.25 is used over a wide area. It's true we don't cover the ATC side of 120.25 from HUL, but it is still useful there because they simulcast on 128.05 a lot. But it's not consistent.
The issue is we're just too far from the St Albans RCAG to get 124.250 and 120.250 consistently there. When the network comes back there I will check 120.250 again.
For sites like BGR, it is way more important to get Ground/Tower/Approach better. Any ZBW coverage we can get is a bonus.
What we really need is someone closer to the St. Albans ME RCAG site.

BGR is back....now with App/Dep on its own feed and the ZBW stuff on a separate feed (124.25, 120.25).

This is a fun feed to listen to. Quite a bit of variety including military from many countries.

Hello! Sorry for the necropost, but I think I can help with this. I am in the next town over from St. Albans on pretty much on a hill. 124.250 and 120.250 are easy to recieve on my handheld scanner and I would be more than willing to feed the network. I just need some advice on what equipment to purchase.
Also, in related news, the KBGR feed is down again. Any status on its restoration?
Thanks!
