OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Preliminary findings from an investigation into a fatal plane crash indicate the pilot of the single-engine airplane reported engine failure before it crashed.
Ron Meyer died late Saturday, hours after his Beech V35B clipped a tree and crashed into a ditch near a busy road in northwest Oklahoma City.

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Thomas Latson said the plane had just departed from Wiley Post Airport at 8:52 a.m. when engine failure was reported.

Latson says Meyer was trying to return to the airport when the plane went down.

Four passengers on the plane were hurt. Two are in fair condition, one is in critical condition and the condition of the fourth isn't available.
