Title: JetBlue parked at LAX...
Post by: athaker on November 17, 2007, 05:49:03 PM
Just saw a Jet Blue Embraer parked near Imperial Highway (south side of the airport) about 1/4 mile West of Sepulveda.  Anybody know what he's doin out of his Burbank/Long Beach comfort zones??

Didn't see any firey nosegear videos on CNN recently  :-)

JBU also flies E190s.

It also could be that it wasn't a commercial (read: revenue generating) flight.. or it could be on delivery to somewhere else. Virgin Blue just took delivery of their first E-jets, but because their first set of them are not ETOPS compliant, they had to take the long way around to Australia instead of a direct flight across the South Pacific.

They also do military contract flights.

College Football to be exact. Usually not E190s... It's kinda hard to fit a team and their equipment in an E190!

I'd say I'm 98% sure it was the e190.  I got a quick glimpse only (funny how my driving is worst when I'm near an airport) but I saw clearly it was JetBlue and saw the distinctive angle/bend in the tail.

Easiest way to tell between the two would be to have a look at the winglets. Did they look like the blended winglets or the normal Airbus type? And since JBU only flies the A320, were there two escape doors above the wings? The E190s only have 1 on each side.
