O'Hare airport runway shortened overnight
« on: May 18, 2009, 07:17:24 PM »
No, Mayor Daley didn't take bulldozers to KORD like he did to KCGX.  Rwy 10-28 was shortened by 4000' by a new paint job.

Did they finally close KCGX? I heard it was going to be saved. That was a while ago that I heard that...

Sad if they did...

Umm.. Meigs was closed in 2003, unfortunately. Because of that, it is the only reason myself nor my money will touch the city of Chicago until King Daley is gone (hopefully booted) from office. Though, there is effort out there fighting to reopen it.

Haha, okay now that was funny.

That clown should be in jail.  I, too, refuse to spend any money whatsoever until that crook and tyrant is out of office.

That is too bad.  :x

I havn't been to Chicago in years! KCGX will live on forever in Flight Sim!  8-)

That was the only small airport near downtown...KPWK and KDPA are a hike from downtown! If you were flying your own airplane to Chicago, where would you land?

Chicago Int'l Airport, Gary, Indiana. 12/30 is longer than all the runways at MDW, has customs nearby/port of entry, and can handle anything that isn't heavy. But once again, none of my money would go to Chicago.

I had a choice last year from KSTL being closed due to a storm to spend the night at KMDW at the airport as all the hotels were booked. I opted instead for KOMA to stay with my parents instead.

Until Meigs is back or Daley is gone, none of my money is going to Chicago.
