Title: Interference/Squelch Probs on the JFK App/Dep Feed
Post by: Richard Price on June 21, 2005, 06:29:25 PM
For the past few days I've noticed interference and squelch problems with the JFK App/Dep feed. First the interference...whenever there is a transmission, there is a squeeling at different pitch, almost like morse code. Also, seems the squelch needs to be turned up because you hear the static off and on constantly. It makes it's really hard to listen to the feed. I was going to wait a few days to see if it would clear up or get fixed, but it hasn't yet and I haven't seen anyone else post about it.

Hopefully this will be fixed today...one of the departure frequencies needs to be locked out, unfortunately, due to some very heavy local interference from an out-of-band transmitter.  We'l; have to put a filter down there at some point.
