Title: Interesting DEN approach last night
Post by: mhotch on October 22, 2011, 09:24:19 AM
Hello all, I'm new to the board, and I'm trying to see if I can pull the ATC/Pilot audio from a landing I had last night in DEN.

Flight was Frontier 139 on final to DEN @ 8:20PM local time, 10/21/2011. About 30 feet pilot aborted landing over the runway and we made another pass. In all my years of being a 'road warrior' flying, I've never had something happen that close. I would be very interested to hear how that happened over the radio...

I'd also like to shake my pilot's hand. I don't think people in the airplane know just how fortunate they are to have a heads up pilot like that.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

I didn't have time to listen to the whole thing, but this is KDEN tower from 8:00 to 8:30 PM local time.

I would think your "incident" should be in there somewhere...

I can appreciate your compliments to the pilot, but it's really not that big of a deal (the go-around itself, at any rate.  A runway incursion would be).  I've seen it happen about a half-dozen times in the last 5 years, and have actually performed countless last minute go-arounds both in training and in "real life".

Sure, they can be exciting to a passenger in a passenger jet, but it's really not a huge issue by itself.
