Title: Indian Feeds
Post by: jonathanvarunbenjamin on December 01, 2014, 09:20:54 PM
As of now, only VIAR is available. Large airports like Delhi VIDP would make for such interesting listening. Can we have VIDP, or are there some legal restrictions to adding new feeds? Can someone please explain how this works? Thank You.

No more Indian feeds will be added until the restrictive laws change within India.  The VIAR feed, when it is up, comes from a location outside India.

Nobody who lives inside India is allowed to send a feed.  When the law changes (doubtful any time soon) we will allow other feeds for India.

Thanks Dave,

Can you recommend a good receiver (cheap) which I can use to tune in at home? Are there any that can plug into my laptop?

Thanks

If you want cheap then get a USB dongle - check http://www.nooelec.com/store/ for some examples.  They are also available widely on eBay and other sources.  Connect it to an antenna and run SDR# (http://sdrsharp.com) on your PC.  That is probably the cheapest way to get started.

Hi,
I've just got my RTL2382U + 820T2 SDR.

I've installed SDR Sharp (SDR#) and the drivers. But I don't seem to know the correct settings - there are so many parameters - AM/FM IF MPX Audio - Gain AGC RTL or Tuner ....

Can you help me with some basics to tune into Aircraft communicating with a tower?

Thank you!

Check out this tutorial - it will help get you started:

Note that all aircraft voice communications on VHF are AM.
