IND setup for Indianapolis 500 mile race
« on: May 28, 2006, 01:11:09 AM »
Hey all,

I got most of the renovations in my room finished, so I have the computer and all the equipment set up.  Tomorrow, due to the fact that it's IND's busiest day of the year with tons of corporate and GA traffic, I'll be running things a bit differently.

On the IND feed, I'll have the 2 tower frequencies, as they'll undoubtedly be split after the race tomorrow as all the aircraft depart.  I can't remember which is which, but there's one freq for 23R and one for 23L.  The freqs are 120.9 and 127.82.  These can be heard on the normal IND feed, under class C airports.  If I can figure out what it is, I'll put the operations freq that the banner towing aircraft use over the track, as the tower can be pretty dead during the race.

Under the ZID feed, I will have the approach and departure freqs for IND, being 119.05, 119.3, 121.1, 123.95, 124.65, 124.95, 126.07, 127.15, and 135.45.  Again, this will be on the ZID feed, under Class D/Center.

After that, probably starting Sunday night, I'll have things back to normal...all IND freqs on the IND feed and ZID freqs back on the ZID feed.  Oh and I haven't updated in the status forum, but I got a used soundcard for $5 so both IND and ZID will be up indefinatly now.  I am working on some sound issues though, but won't be able to get those fixed until after tomorrow.

Enjoy!

5L/23R is 127.82 and 5R/23L is 120.9.

Figured out the advisory freq for the track is 118.67...I may leave it on for a while during the race since tower will be fairly dead.  If anyone's listening and reads this, let me know if you'd rather just have the tower freqs or if you enjoy the advisory for over the track.  I'll keep checking for messages on here as I'll probably be on the computer all day to avoid all the traffic and the 90F temps.

Haha...that was incredible.  It's blacked out here in most of Indiana, so I couldn't see it on TV, but I caught the last few laps on the radio.  I'd definatly be watching when it replays tonight on TV.

Let the fun begin at the airport...I may end up adding ground somewhere...or just put ground on ZID instead of app/dept as that honestly will be pretty boring as it'll mostly be departures and those aren't as interesting to listen to as arrivals.  Just depends on how much traffic there is from the satellite airports on the approach and departure freqs.  If I recall correctly from last year, ground was the busiest freq overall last year, so I'll prob just put it on ZID.

Edit:  104 departures filed from IND for the next hour or so.

No doubt, that was a really exciting finish to that one.  Looks like Marco Andretti is set to carry on the family name.  The kid did a great job!
