They really aren't offering this at New York either! If you look closely at the bids, (which most reporters have yet to do) the '$100,000 bonus' is actually for current controllers at other facilities to transfer to some hard to staff places. The 'bonus' also breaks down as $27,000 for a paid move and 'up to' $75,000 retention bonus for a three-four year contract, with a max of $25,000 per year. All except the move money is at the discretion of the management. This makes for some great sensationalism news but is as far from reality as it is for the FAA to have the right people in the right place at the right time! (Who would have that thought that when that statement was made four years ago, that the 'right people' were still in grade school!)
