Post by: flyMKEmilwaukee414 on May 01, 2005, 03:25:48 PM
You should add a link and see how really busy air traffic is. Evetyone should have it. I dont know how to do that but it would be the best ever

ex: MKE (see how busy airplanes land and take-off
MKE air traffic is 60%

Lets see....do you mean something like statistics of landing and takeoff aircraft after every hour or something?

My dads friend is an airport manager at KLAS who does statisitcs like that and I can try and pull up an old link from the FAA on it, but I still do not know what you mean

I think he means something that monitors the feed and figures out what % of time is being used by radio traffic and what % is dead air.

So a really busy feed, with lots of radio traffic, might be like 75% actual transmissions and 25% dead air. A really slow one might be 1% traffic and 99% dead air.

And then putting that number, updated however often, right in the listing of feeds.

That way someone could look and see what streams actually had the most traffic on them quickly.

Sounds kinda hard to do though :)

Or if I have it totally wrong, maybe something like this FAA AIRPORT ARRIVAL DEMAND CHART would be closer to what he speaks of:

Title: Quiter summer air traffic

There has been one change here in northern Ontario that recently threw some pilots in a loop.  Generally, our flight service monitors via remote the Moosonnee air traffic 24/7 like our local air traffic.  NavCanada pulled back on air traffic hours to 7 am to 9 pm, where the pilots must either call in their arrival or report down with Toronto ACC.  There used to be maybe 6 or 7 flights a day, now there's just your average 3 or so Cree flights.
